You can create new help articles by recording your workflow with the Pageloop Chrome Extension. The extension captures your clicks, navigation, and screenshots to automatically generate a draft article.
Recording a New Feature
Before you start, make sure you have the Pageloop Chrome Extension installed.
Start the recording. You can begin from within the Pageloop app by clicking + Quick Actions and then selecting Record flow. Alternatively, you can open the extension directly from your browser's toolbar.
Configure your settings. In the extension pop-up, click on Create Article and then choose the tab you want to record. You can select a single tab or click Share All Tabs for workflows that span multiple pages, like integrations.
βYou can next enable your microphone to add voice narration for extra context. This is particularly helpful when all the context you want to share is not on the screen
βRecord the flow. Click on Continue to start recording and navigate through your feature. A floating control panel will appear at the bottom of your screen, and the tab being recorded will have a blinking red icon. Use Ctrl+S to take screenshots as you go. You can also view the steps and screenshots you've taken along the way by expanding the View Steps option.
Finish the recording. When you're done, click Save Flow in the floating panel or press Ctrl+R.
Generating the Article Draft
After saving the flow, Pageloop will open a new tab where you can review everything that was captured before generating your article.
Review captured steps. On the left side of the review page, you'll see every click, URL change, and screenshot. You can delete any steps that were captured accidentally.
Add final details. On the right, you can add product notes, upload additional images, and select an article template. If you recorded audio, the transcript will be automatically used to generate the article.
Generate the draft. Click Generate Draft. Your new article will appear in your Drafts page, ready for final edits.
Use Record Flow with Find Updates
You can also use the Chrome extension to find updates instead of creating an article. After you save a recording, the web app opens a review page where you can see the steps on the left and complete the Find Updates form on the right.
Review the captured steps and screenshots.
Enter a title and paste your release notes.
Optionally upload images and select impacted categories.
Submit to find existing articles that need updates.
This workflow lets you review the flow you recorded before submitting the update search.
Next Steps
If you use Intercom, once your draft is ready, you can edit the draft on Pageloop and push your draft from Pageloop to Intercom using the Create Draft button.
Once the draft is pushed, you will see an option to view this draft on Intercom to assign it to a category and hit Publish.
